BEACH DAY AT EL TUNCO OR COSTA DEL SOL

Set on the slopes of Cordillera del Bálsamo La Libertad beaches is a series of dark volcanic sand coastline with great views, surfing, gastronomy and laid back atmosphere where life a beach!

Watch the traditional fishermen as they arrive with the catch of the day at the peer and visit their colorful fish market at El Muelle de La Libertad. Take a walk at El Malecón del Puerto. Taste the seafood specialties with a cold coconut as you hear the waves crashing or ride them at El Tunco beach. Or just take a sunbath and swim the warm Pacific Ocean waters watching the pelicans flying nearby at El Sunzal.

MORAZÁN PROVINCE AND PERQUÍN, A GUERRILLA’S CAPITAL

“Where the wind whispers stories”.

The small mountain town of Perquín is home to the Museo de la Revolución Salvadoreña. Here a former guerrilla fighter turned into Museum Guide will tell you the story from the perspective of guerrilla army. With exhibits of weapons, war trophies, important documents, photos and political propaganda posters used during the conflict. There is also a recreation of the clandestine Radio Venceremos transmission studio with some of the original equipment displayed.

TAMANIQUE WATERFALLS

Las Cascadas de Tamanique is a series of waterfalls along El Sunzal river, up in El Bálsamo mountain range. This waterfalls go from few meters to more than forty meters high.
It is a short walk from Tamanique village through cornfields and forest to reach the river and the first pond. Besides here you can jump into the cool waters before the next one with more than 20 meters high.
If you’re brave enough (and conditions allow it) you can reach the highest of them all after a challenging hike (and climb) in the gore.
