SURFING IN EL TUNCO, EL SUNZAL AND EL ZONTE

For decades La Libertad beaches were a well kept secret among surfers around the world. Nowadays this series of small black-sanded volcanic beaches are popular but great spots for surfers and beach lovers alike.
Some of the most popular surfing destinations here are on a short distance one another.
Spots such as El Sunzal and El Tunco are excellent for any level of experience. Here you can get a surfboard or lessons from a local expert.
There are many restaurants in the area if you’d like to enjoy some snack, a meal or drinks (not included).
Visit to other surfing spots such as Punta Roca, El Zonte or Mizata available upon request.

JIQUILISCO BAY AND ESTUARY, RAMSAR WETLAND

Jiquilisco Bay is one of the richest marine eco-systems throughout Central America: the mangroves. This is a system of canals and islands where the “mangle” grows and play its role on the wetlands. Habitat for crocodiles, migratory and resident marine birds, crustaceans, turtles and even spider monkeys, this Protected Area is one of the natural jewels of El Salvador.
The largest mangrove system in the country and RAMSAR site. Here you can explore the canals on a kayak or motorboat watching traditional fishermen, birds or an occasional crocodile. Visit Punta San Juan, a peninsula where the estuary meets the ocean and one of the most secluded beaches. Or visit La Pirraya, a community of fishermen that happens to be one of the best Beach Soccer teams in the world. GULF OF FONSECA

With an area of about 3,200 Km² the Gulf of Fonseca is shared by Honduras (North), Nicaragua (East), the Pacific Ocean (South) and El Salvador (West).
The group of islands in the Gulf is a worthy trip if you like the Ocean, sand, sun, boat rides, tranquility and nature, with views to deserted sandy beaches (some we’ll visit), sharp cliffs with caves formed by old lava ducts and volcanic formations.
We take a boat at La Unión and ride among the islands. With a little luck we’ll able to watch some marine wildlife such as sea turtles or humpback whales and the always present traditional fishermen.
